www.oicworldpeace.org OIC was founded in 1984 to support public understanding of the work of the United Nations and to promote global cooperation. OIC is a citizen activist organization that has executed many unique projects over the years that were focued on public responsibility for peace, United Nations news coverage, U.S.-Soviet friendship cooperation and peace education. OIC projects involved several public forums with United Nations diplomats, politicians, journalists and peace activists. OIC members regularly gave talks to civic groups and business groups as well as student and global affairs study groups at public schools and at major universities in New Jersey. Our dedicated OIC members were extensively intervewed by various newspapers and appeared on many broadcast and cable TV talk shows. Special events were also organized at the UN Soviet Mission and at UN Plaza and elsewehere. OIC in 2006 "There are three great mysteries of nature. Air to the bird, water to the fish and man to himself." -Hindu Proverb OIC Foreign Relations Breakthrough Project Children smiling around the world. Poverty diminishing. International disputes being settled easily. A world without terrorism, armed conflict and nuclear proliferation. A future of peace, prosperity and worldwide cooperation. These are the possibilities and the promise of the Foreign Relations Breakthrough Project. The world isn’t dangerous because of weapons or so-called “evil-doers”. It is dangerous because people profoundly misunderstand each other and themselves. The result is fear, blind hatred, indifference, children suffering, poverty, hunger, violence and an endless litany of other major problems. Einstein had it right sixty years ago with his warning. It has gone largely unheeded. Mankind has not progressed in its ability to relate and think in new ways. Never before in human history has it been possible to annihilate the planet. We move closer to it everyday and seek solutions that end up causing more dangers. For the most part, we are blind to the dangers we create. Purpose The Foreign Relations Breakthrough Project is to support governments and their officials in solving conflicts, preventing conflicts and expanding desperately needed international cooperation. During the course of the project politicians and diplomats will come to recognize how their minimal level of self-awareness stifles conflict resolution, increases the possibility of armed conflict and hinders cooperation in many life threatening areas of concern to mankind.
